SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A career-high from junior Allyson Bradshaw and a double-double from senior Patricia Mack was not enough for the Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team as it fell 77-66 at Missouri State.

The Redhawks end the nonconference season 4-9 while Missouri State improves to 4-6.

The Lady Bears got on the scoreboard first on a layup from Tyonna Snow, before the Redhawks answered back with a jumper from Bradshaw.

Missouri State then proceeded to go on a 12-3 run to open a 14-5 lead with 12:25 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Connor King put an end to the run with a jump shot to get back within seven points.

The Lady Bears continued to build its lead, which got to as large as 12 points with 9:42 remaining before the Redhawks went on an 8-1 run to pull within five points at 20-15.

Junior Yelena Rosado sank a pair of free throws to start the run. Southeast got a quick set of points after trapping and getting steal from the Lady Bears point guard. Freshman Bri Mitchell sank the jumper.

Southeast got a stop on the defensive end and a Patricia Mack jumper brought the score to 19-13.

Kenzie Williams went 1-for-2 on the free throw line, to give the Lady Bears their only points in the run, while Rosado sank a jump shot with 5:36 remaining for the 20-15 score.

However, Missouri State would open the lead back up, closing out the first half on a 14-6 run to enter halftime with a 34-21 lead.

The story of the first half was MSU utilizing 13 Southeast turnovers and 11 fouls and turning those into points.

"It is difficult (to overcome) when you are playing on the road," Southeast head coach Ty Margenthaler said. "We knew going into the game that we had to take care of the basketball.

"Unfortunately, they had some great steals out front. There was nothing we could do. We were chasing them down on layups and that really got them going."

The Redhawks had several opportunities to make a run in the second half including a quick 8-2 run that brought Southeast to within eight points with 12:46 remaining in the game. Sophomore Olivia Hackmann hit a pair of jumpers while Rosado and Bradshaw each added a jumper in the run.

The Lady Bears lead would hover around that margin for the next three minutes until an 8-0 run built a 16-point lead at 62-46 with 7:35 remaining.

Southeast would make one last run at the Lady Bears, chipping away at the lead and cutting it down to just nine points on a floating jumper off the hands of Mitchell with 1:35 remaining in the game. However, the Redhawks just ran out of time in the comeback bid, falling 77-66.

"I think we fixed the (turnover) situation at halftime and I was pleased with how we came out in that second half," Margenthaler said. "I really thought Bri Mitchell really played a solid second half.

"We shot 55 percent in the half and it really gave us an opportunity, We just gave up too many points and too many rebounds."

Southeast was outrebounded 45-36 in the game.

Bradshaw scored a career-high 19 points, which was also the game-high. Mack secured the eighth double-double of her career with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also passed Kim Palmer for eighth all-time on the Redhawks career rebounding list, now with 680 boards.

Williams led Missouri State with 16 points, as three other Lady Bears scored in double digits including Tyonna Snow with 15 points, Bry Snow with 14 and NiJay Gaines with 10.

Southeast's bench again produced, outscoring the Missouri State bench 29-16. It marked the 11th game this year that Southeast won the battle of the benches.

The Redhawks now take a short break for the holidays and return to action with the start of OVC play on Dec. 31 hosting Belmont at 2 p.m.
