MARTIN, Tenn. – The Southeast Missouri soccer team ended its season Thursday evening after dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 6 Austin Peay (11-5-2, 5-4-1 OVC) in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Southeast Missouri closes the 2013 campaign 8-7-3 overall, 6-2-2 in OVC play.

The Redhawks and Lady Govs battled a close, scoreless first half. Austin Peay outshot the Redhawks 11-7 in the opening half. Natasha Minor was able to get three shots off, two of which were on-goal, in the first half. Defender Jacey Boyko tied a season-high two shots in the first period alone.

In the second half, Austin Peay doubled their shot total to 22 while Southeast added six to their own for 13 altogether. As the clock ran down and the game remained scoreless, the Lady Govs used a corner kick to seal the match. Natalie Ariza kicked the ball into a heap of Lady Govs and Redhawks. Ariza found the head of Shelby Olszewski to head the ball in with only 4:25 left on the clock to take a very late lead on Southeast. Austin Peay held on to eliminate Southeast and advance in the tournament.

Six different Redhawks added to the shot total in the second half. Ashley Brendel and Amy Harrington each added a shot-on-goal in the second half.

Ashton Aubuchon added seven saves in the match to bring her career saves total to 254 in her outstanding four-year career. Aubuchon also broke the single-season saves record with 101 in 2013, beating out Beth Guccione's 1999 total of 100 saves.
