ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Southeast Missouri women's basketball team opened the New Mexico Thanksgiving Tournament Friday evening with an 88-37 loss to Arkansas (7-0). Southeast falls to 2-5 in the 2013 campaign.

Southeast looked good very early in the first half but the wheels quickly began falling off as the Razorbacks caught fire. Olivia Hackmann was responsible for Southeast's first two field goals and four points. Southeast would be held to four points for ten and a half minutes while Arkansas was able to open a commanding lead of nearly 20 points. Connor King drained a jumper with 7:27 left to end the Redhawks dry spell.

Southeast was able to begin firing the offense but it wasn't enough to keep up with a hot Razorback team. The Razorbacks' largest lead of 16 came with 16 second left in the half. Brittany Harris landed a jumper with just seconds left to end the first half, 38-14 Arkansas.

Hackmann totaled six points in the half. King added five rebounds with Jordan Hunter and Hillary Lively each with three. Arkansas narrowly out-rebounded the Redhawks 23-20 in the opening half.

The second half proved to be much of the same with Arkansas rolling past the Redhawks with 50 points in the half. Southeast added 23 points in the latter half to bring the final score to 88-37.

The Redhawks' point leader, Kara Wright, totaled seven of her eight points of the game in the second half. Wright was 5-of-7 from the free-throw line with one of Southeast's two three-pointers of the contest. Brianna Mitchell and Hackmann each finished with six points for Southeast.

Southeast finished the evening shooting 20.3% from the field but was 57.9% from the free-throw line.
