CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – As the Redhawks volleyball team opens the month of November, they currently sit third in the Ohio Valley Conference West Division. Southeast has six matches left this season, five of which are against West opponents. Southeast will take on SIUE Friday at 7 p.m. followed by West Division leaders Eastern Illinois Saturday at 5 p.m. Both matches can be seen on the OVC Digital Network.
Let's Review
The Redhawks were on the road Tuesday against in-state foe Missouri State. The Bears got the better of the Redhawks in a three-set sweep. Southeast Missouri defeated Eastern Kentucky before falling to Morehead State last week. Junior
Andrea Baylin led the team with 25 kills over the two matches, including 15 against Eastern Kentucky. She also recorded four blocks and 32 digs on the weekend. She registered 16 digs in each match. Senior Berkly Idel finished with 44 digs last week to move into 10th place on the school's all-time digs list. She also recorded a career-best seven assists in the match with EKU.
A Look Ahead
Southeast returns home for three straight matches to close-out the 2013 home schedule against Murray, Austin Peay, and UT Martin. Southeast finishes the regular season with Tennessee Tech, Nov. 16.
Scouting Trip
SIUE defeated Austin Peay and fell to Murray State last week. Sophomore Kristen Torre recorded 13 kills with no errors in the win over Austin Peay. She also raised her season average in blocks to 0.75 per set with five blocks last week. Junior Chelsea Colclasure continues to lead the OVC in digs per set after recording 6.17 per set last week. She had 20 versus Austin Peay and followed that up with 17 at Murray State. Colclasure needs just 16 digs to become the first player in school history to record 500 or more digs in each of her first three seasons. Freshman Mallory Mangun averaged over 12 assists per set for the second straight week. She has now recorded 10.90 assists per set this season to move into third place in the OVC.
Eastern Illinois defeated Murray State and Austin Peay last week. Senior Stephanie Arnold led all Panthers with 34 points (4.86 ppg) while recording a .471 hitting percentage. She registered a personal-best .810 attack percentage versus Murray State, which tied for third best on EIU's single-match list. Sophomore Marah Bradbury recorded a double-double in each match, finishing the week with 32 digs and 101 assists. Against Murray State she had 47 assists and 20 digs. She followed that up with 54 assists and 12 digs at Austin Peay. She now has 17 double-doubles all-time. Bradbury also helped the team hit .261 over the two matches.
Playing a Wall
Southeast Missouri has consistently led the OVC in blocks this season. Southeast has tallied 250 blocks (106 solo, 288 assisted), 2.40 blocks/set.
Taylor Masterson (1.10 blocks/set) ranks tied for first in the OVC in blocking with
Emily Coon (0.90 blocks/set) ranks 7th in blocking in the OVC.
1,000 Kill Club
Wednesday against Saint Louis, senior middle blocker
Emily Coon recorded her 1,000th kill of her career. Coon currently sits outside the top-ten in career kills. In order to break the top-ten, she must record 213 more kills this season.
Colleen Yarber is approaching the 1,000 kills mark and only 65 more to join Coon in the club.

Colleen Yarber has broken the top-ten in career attack attempts with 3,297 and now ranks eighth all-time.Â
Not a Queen, but an Ace
Freshman defensive specialist
Jade Mortimer ranks among the most aggressive servers in the conference with 27 service aces. Her 0.31 aces/set ranks her 8th in the OVC. Southeast tied a season-high 10 aces in the match against Saint Louis as both teams combined for 19 aces altogether.Â
