CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Redhawks will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for Ohio Valley Conference East showdowns with Belmont on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by a match up with Tennessee State Saturday at 2 p.m. Friday's match against Belmont can be seen on the OVC Digital Network.

Let's Review
On their first OVC road swing of the season, Southeast fell to a very tough Austin Peay team in four sets but bounced back with a big sweep over Murray State Saturday. Southeast took a break from conference play Wednesday with an intense come-from-behind victory over Saint Louis in five sets. Once the Redhawks came alive, it was lights out for the Billikens after that.

A Look Ahead
The Redhawks kick-off Homecoming weekend with Eastern Kentucky Thursday, Oct. 24, followed by a rivalry match-up with the Morehead State Eagles on Friday at 6:30 p.m. After Homecoming, Southeast will take on Missouri rival, Missouri State at 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 in Springfield.

Scouting Trip
Belmont defeated Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech on the road last week. Senior Jen Myer recorded 18 kills, 32 digs and a .467 hitting percentage over the two matches. She had a season-high 24 digs against Jacksonville State. Senior Hannah Miranda led the team with 11.3 assists per set to go with a .588 hitting percentage. She helped the Bruins register a .307 hitting percentage last week.

Tennessee State defeated Tennessee Tech before falling to Jacksonville State. Junior Naomi Wells posted 30 kills over the two matches to go with a .278 hitting percentage. She recorded a double-double against Jacksonville State with 17 kills and 14 digs. Senior Erika Moss dished out 67 assists and recorded 27 digs last week. Against the Gamecocks, Moss recorded 39 assists and a career-high 20 digs. She also had two service aces last week to move her to ninth on the school's all-time list.

Seeing (and Thinking) Pink
With October upon the Redhawks, Southeast is in the midst of its annual Dig For Life campaign. Dig For Life, started by Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Woman Administrator and former volleyball head coach Cindy Gannon, was started to help provide mammograms for women who could otherwise not afford them. Dig For Life, in conjunction with Saint Francis Medical Center's Pink Up Cape campaign, has grown exponentially in the last few years. The Redhawks will wear pink jerseys for all home matches during the month of October.

Playing a Wall
Southeast Missouri has consistently led the OVC in blocks this season. Southeast has tallied 209 blocks (91 solo, 236 assisted), 2.52 blocks/set. Taylor Masterson (1.16 blocks/set) leads the OVC in blocking with Emily Coon (0.95 blocks/set) ranks 5th in blocking in the OVC. In Saturday's match against Murray, Southeast posted a season high 17 team blocks but set a new season-high 18 blocks against Saint Louis Tuesday with Masterson adding a career-high 18. The Redhawks are also holding opponents to a .184 hitting percentage.

1,000 Kill Club
Wednesday against Saint Louis, senior middle blocker Emily Coon recorded her 1,000th kill of her career. Coon currently sits outside the top-ten in career kills. In order to break the top-ten, she must record 245 more kills this season.

Start it Up
As a team, the Redhawk's offense ranks in the middle of the conference in hitting (.176 hitting percentage) and ranks last in kills (11.08 kills/set); however, individually, Emily Coon ranks fifth in the OVC in hitting percentage (.286) and Colleen Yarber ranks eighth in the kills category (244; 3.21 kills/set).

Not a Queen, but an Ace
Freshman defensive specialist Jade Mortimer ranks among the most aggressive servers in the conference with 25 service aces. Her 0.32 aces/set ranks her sixth in the OVC. Southeast tied a season-high 10 aces in Wednesday's match against Saint Louis as both teams combined for 19 aces altogether.

4,000 Assist Club
Senior setter Julie Shives is now a member of the 4,000 assist club at Southeast Missouri. Shives ranks fifth on the career assists list with 4,197. In order to move up in the rankings, Shives needs to tally almost 900 more assists to reach Southeast Hall of Famer Tuba Meto's 5,003 assists mark, who ranks fourth all-time.
