CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri track and field programs head to Bloomington, Ind. to take part in the Indiana Relays this weekend. More than 30 teams will be action against the Redhawks this weekend.
The Redhawks made their full return to action last weekend at the Wisconsin Invite against some very competitive competition.
Reggie Miller, Jr. tied his school record with a mark of 7'-0.25” in the high jump on his way to winning the event. Fellow jumper Blake Smith opened his day with a win in the long jump at 22'-3.75”, he also finished second in the 60m dash.
In the women's field events Freshman Macy Ritter earned a career-best mark of 17'-1.50” mark in the long jump earning a third place finish. In the throwing events Courtney Gapelu finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 48'-3.5”, falling just short of her career-best.
In the men's running events Freshman Kameron Long earned a second place finish in the 800m run at 1:55.02. Sophomore Curt Wood finished third in the event at 1:57.95. Senior Tyler Mullen finished third in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:50.14. Sophomore Craig Munie finished fourth with a time of 8:50.16.
In the women's running events senior Jerika Lewis finished fourth in the 400m dash at 59.23. In the distance events sophomore Rebekah Lawson finished sixth in the mile run with a career-best time of 5:30.61. Freshman Alyssa Rebecca finished in fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:21.63.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Lewis, Alison Barker, Rebecca and Ayoona Cartwright finished third with a time of 4:02.71, a season-best in the event.
