The Redhawks return home for a dual meet against SIUE next Friday

BLOOMINGTON, IND. – The Southeast Missouri track and field programs wrapped up the second day of competition at the Indiana Relays on Saturday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind. The Redhawks finished the weekend with three individual crowns in the throwing events.
"We had alot of good performances this weekend and we need to continue to get better," said head coach Eric Crumpecker.
In the distance events sophomore Rebekah Lawson recorded an indoor career-best and school record in the 5,000m run at 17:36.80. The record was held by Juli Koenegstein who recorded a 17:40.43 in 2009.
Junior Courtney Gapelu threw a 49'-4.50” mark in the shot put, a new career-best for the Independence, Mo. native. The mark is also the best mark in indoor competition in the Ohio Valley Conference since 2009-10.
Gapelu also took the crown in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 55'-0” on Friday evening.
In the running events on Saturday afternoon Tyler Mullen earned a fifth-place finish in the 5,000m run with a career-best time of 14:54.01, it was also a season-best in the OVC this season as well as the best mark by a Redhawk since 2011. Craig Munie added a career-best in the event at 15:03.74.
Kameron Long earned a fourth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 1:54.89 falling just short of his career-best, which tops the OVC Best List this season.
The men's 4x400 relay team of Alexander Anderson, Long, Curt Wood and Kendrick Farr ran a season-best time of 3:20.73.
On the women's side Jerika Lewis finished third in the 400m dash with a season-best time of 57.24. On Friday, Lewis finished fourth in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 25.08.
In the 200m dash Ayonna Cartwright (26.24) and Jovannie Spears (26.32) ran career-best times in the event.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Tianna Borner, Cartwright, Lewis and Cheyenne Tunti ran a season-best time of 4:00.56.
On Friday evening, newcomer Sarah Hall won the shot put title with a career-best mark of 46'-7.50”. Kayla Gutierrez placed fourth with a career-best toss of 44'-5.25”.
Senior Craig Robinson took the shot put title on the men's side with a mark of 56'1.75”.
In other throwing events on the men's side Kevin Farley finished fifth in the weight throw at 56'-9.25”. Jared Siemers finished eighth at 53'-7.50”.
In the running events on the men's side Wood finished fourth in the 600m run with a career-best time of 1.21.25. Blake Carter finished sixth in the 200m dash tying a career-best time of 22.32.
The men's distance medley team (Long, Adam Shivers, Wood, Alex Zisser) finished fourth with a season-best time of 10:24.88.
