CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team returns to Houck Field House for the first time this season to host rival UT Martin on Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The Redhawks return home after opening the season with 16 road contest. The Redhawks went 10-6 to open up the season on the road including two road wins over the weekend to open up OVC play as the Redhawks defeated Eastern Illinois and SIUE.

Southeast Openers
The Redhawks improved their OVC Openers record to 14-7 since 1992 with a 3-1 win over EIU on Friday. The Redhawks have now won five straight OVC Openers. The Redhawks are 5-7 in the 2000's in home openers. The Redhawks have won two straight home openers after defeating Murray State in a five set duel last season. Last season, Southeast was 7-3 at Houck Field House.

Brittney Kalinoski and
Colleen Yarber had career weekends for the Redhawks last weekend. Kalinoski had a career night on Friday at EIU as she recorded a career-high 18 kills to go along with a career-high 24 digs. Yarber led the Redhawks with a career-high 22 kills, hitting .327 in a 3-1 win over SIUE on Saturday.

Julie Shives ranks third all-time in assists at Southeast Missouri with 2,751. She recorded 942 assists in her first season and 1,180 in 2011. She is 95 sets away from being seventh all-time at Southeast in assists.

The Redhawks are 57-15 all-time against the Skyhawks. UT Martin has won the last four contests between the teams during the last two seasons. The Redhawks won 32 straight contests between the two schools from 1988 to 2004.

Julie Shives were named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference by OVC coaches and sports information directors. Coon was named to Preseason All-OVC in 2011 and earned postseason All--OVC honors as well.
Preseason Polls
The Southeast Missouri volleyball team was picked third in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. The Redhawks received 192 points and two first place votes in this season's poll. Morehead State the defending OVC Champions were picked to win the league with 242 points and 22 first place votes. Newcomer Belmont was picked second with 198 points after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2011.
