Southeast 3 SIUE 1 - Box Score
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team defeated SIUE 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21) Saturday afternoon in Edwardsville, Ill. The Redhawks improve to 10-6 on the season and 2-0 in the OVC as the Cougars drop to 5-8 and 1-1 in conference play.
Colleen Yarber led the Redhawks with a career-high 22 kills, hitting .327. She also added 16 digs for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks took the first frame from the Cougars 25-22. Southeast opened the frame with five consecutive points. The Redhawks never trailed in the opening frame as the pounded out 18 kills.
The Cougars took the second frame 25-22 to tie the match. SIUE had 18 kills in the second frame as they scored the final three points of the frame.
Southeast took the third set 25-19. The Redhawks led by as many as nine at 19-10. SIUE used a six point run to cut the Southeast lead to 19-16, but the Redhawks closed out the set with a 6-3 run to take the set.
The Redhawks took the fourth set 25-21. Southeast took the frame with a block by
Taylor Masterson as the Southeast recorded 11 blocks on the day.
Southeast hit .263 in the final frame. The Redhawks finished the afternoon with a .247 hitting percentage.
Berkley Idel had match-high 25 digs.
Julie Shives had a season-high 50 assists.
Brittney Kalinoski and
Kelsey Keeve added 10 kills apiece. Keeve hit a team-high .588 on the afternoon.
The Redhawks play their first home match of the season on Tuesday night against UT Martin at 6:30 p.m.
