CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri soccer team concludes its season opening four-match home stand this weekend when it hosts UMKC and Drake on Friday and Sunday. Opening kickoff of both matches at Houck Stadium is at 6:30 p.m.

Quick Kicks
•This weekend marks Southeast's second all-time meeting against both UMKC and Drake. Southeast is a combined 1-0-1 against the two schools.

•Southeast is winless in its last three matches (0-2-1), the first time that has happened to the program since the final three matches of the 2010 season, when the Redhawks also went 0-2-1.

•The Redhawks are also winless in their past three matches at Houck Stadium dating back to the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, the first time that has happened since the Redhawks went six-straight without a win at Houck in the 2008 season.

News and Notes:

Last Week – Southeast played a pair of tight contests against defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Illinois State and in-state rival Saint Louis at Houck. The Redhawks tied Friday's match against the Redbirds on an Ashley Geist goal in the second half, but Rachel Tejada's second tally sent Southeast to a 2-1 loss. On Sunday, Renee Kertz made her collegiate soccer debut a memorable one, making four second-half saves to record a shutout in a 0-0 tie against SLU.

Scouting UMKC – The Kangaroos are scoreless through their first two matches, which came against fifth-ranked Oklahoma State (a 1-0 loss) and Oral Roberts (a 0-0 tie). The only goal UMKC has allowed was an own goal that proved to be the deciding tally in its season opening loss to OSU. Jamie Finnell was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week after stopping 16 of 17 shots in the Kangaroos' tight match with the Cowboys. Nina Tzianos got the call against ORU and stopped all six shots she faced in a scoreless draw.

Scouting Drake – The Bulldogs went 2-0 on opening weekend, notching one-goal wins over Northern Illinois (2-1) and at Nebraska (1-0). Drake plays SIU Edwardsville on Friday before coming to Houck in search of its best start in program history. Ashlie Stokes scored the game-winner in both contests and Kalena Litch turned aside 13 of 14 shots on opening weekend.

Abbott Plays…a Lot – Senior defender Hayley Abbott has started all 57 matches Southeast has played since she arrived on campus, putting her 12 starts behind Nikki Edwards' school-record 69. Abbott has also logged 5,004 minutes on the pitch (fifth most all-time), 920 behind the school record, which is also held by Edwards.
