Redhawks Play Final Two Home Matches This Weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri women's tennis team will play its final two home matches of the season this weekend. The Redhawks host Ohio Valley Conference leader Eastern Kentucky on Friday at Noon, and Morehead State on Saturday at 11 a.m., CT.

Southeast returns home for Easter weekend after dropping a close, 4-3, decision at Jacksonville State on Apr. 1.

Sophomore Heather Robinson went undefeated in both singles and doubles competition in two matches for the Redhawks last week. Robinson posted two victories in No. 5 singles, helping lead Southeast to its first OVC win with a 7-0 blanking at Tennessee State (Mar. 31). She also paired up with Jessica Courtnell to grab two wins in No. 2 doubles. Robinson has won four-straight singles matches and has heated up to win nine of her last 10 singles contests.

League-leading EKU heads to Cape Girardeau on a three-match winning streak. The Colonels, who are 12-6 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play, have won five of their last six matchups. The only loss EKU suffered during that stretch was at Marshall (6-1) on Mar. 25.

Morehead State is 10-6 overall and 3-2 against league foes. The Eagles saw an OVC-best eight-match winning streak end when they lost, 5-2, against Eastern Illinois on Apr. 1. Morehead State has lost each of its last two matches since that winning streak ended.

Southeast is 5-11 all-time against EKU and 8-9 against Morehead State.

All of Southeast's home matches are played at the Redhawks Tennis Complex.
