Scouting the Billikens

Saint Louis faced Atlantic 10 Conference opponents Temple and Saint Joseph last week. The Billikens close out their regular-season against Southeast and George Washington. Jessica Buschjost leads Saint Louis with a .331 batting average, 56 hits, 27 runs scored and 60 total bases. Billiken pitchers own a 3.50 ERA with 265 strikeouts this season.

Scouting the Bruins

Belmont has not played a game since Apr. 21 when it was swept in a doubleheader at Kennesaw State. The Bruins have just one hitter with over a .300 batting average. Ashley Byers is hitting .330 with a team-high 34 hits, seven home runs and 22 RBI. Belmont's pitching staff has struggled to a 6.19 ERA as a team.

Special Dedication

Saint Louis and Southeast Missouri will dedicate Tuesday's doubleheader to Tianna Stockley. A native of Sullivan, Mo., Stockley signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Southeast. She lost her life in a one-vehicle car accident in February.

Coaching Milestone

Lana Richmond recorded her 850th career victory as Southeast's head coach on Apr. 14. Richmond, who has coached in a total of 1,499 games, holds an overall record of 855-642-2. She has also won 276 Ohio Valley Conference games, leading the Redhawks to OVC Tournament titles in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999, and OVC regular-season crowns in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. Richmond currently ranks 14th in victories among all NCAA Division I head softball coaches.

Marble Stays Strong in the Circle

Sophomore Alora Marble continues to lead Southeast's pitching staff this season. Marble is 13-14 with a team-best 2.70 ERA in 34 appearances and 28 starts. She leads the Redhawks in complete games (22), strikeouts (94) and innings pitched (191.2).

RBI Machines

Senior shortstop Renee Kertz, who is second on Southeast's all-time career leaders in runs batted in (128), leads the team with 41 RBI this season. Kertz needs only five more RBI to break the record. Taylor Cowan and Lindsey Patterson follow close behind with 32 and 27 RBI, respectively. The three combine for 100 of Southeast's 196 total RBI this season.
