JACKSONVILLE, Ala. - Southeast Missouri (4-9, 1-4) dropped a close 4-3 decision to Jacksonville State (6-13, 3-3) Sunday morning at the JSU Tennis Courts. The Redhawks suffered their fourth loss by one point this season.
Southeast posted three singles victories, but lost the doubles point.
Elizabeth Nyenwe defeated Rafaela Wenzel, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2, while
Jessica Courtnell and
Heather Robinson were victorious in No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Courtnell beat Zoe Bizinos, 6-3, 6-1, and Robinson upended Danielle Kerindi, 6-1, 6-1. Robinson, who has won four-straight, is 9-1 in her last 10 singles matches.
Courtnell and Robinson beat Wenzel and Bizinos, 8-6, in No. 2 doubles, but Southeast lost the point when it came up short at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots.
The Redhawks return home to host a pair of matches over Easter weekend. Southeast plays Eastern Kentucky at Noon, CT, on Apr. 6 and Morehead State at 11 a.m. on Apr. 7.
