MONROE, La. - Freshman Lindsey Patterson went 4-for-8 with three runs scored, a grand slam and eight RBI to lead Southeast Missouri (3-2) to a pair of victories Saturday at the Mardi Gras Classic. The Redhawks beat Grambling State, 21-3, and tournament-host UL Monroe, 8-4.
Southeast broke a school record for most runs in a game and matched the school's single-game mark in margin of victory (+18) against Grambling State.

Southeast used a 14-run second inning to propel its commanding win over Grambling State.
The Redhawks 21 runs were the most in a single-game, surpassing the previous school record of 18 tallies in an 18-0 win over Tennessee State on Apr. 13, 1994.
Southeast led the entire game and held a 2-0 edge before erupting for its 14-run, five-hit second inning.
Simone Patterson started things off with a single and later scored on a wild pitch. Leah Becker, Evan Sallis and Cheyenne Gipson each walked. Renee Kertz then reached on an error, allowing both Becker and Sallis to score. Another error and a wild pitch allowed Gipson to touch home before Lindsey Patterson got on by way of a fielder's choice.
After a pitching change, Alene Bethel delivered a two-RBI double, knocking in both Taylor Cowan and Kertz. A third wild pitch and error pushed across two more runs, before Kertz singled home both Katy McAllister and S. Patterson on a two-out base hit through the left side. L. Patterson put the exclamation on the enormous inning when she smashed her first career grand slam over the center field wall, giving Southeast a hefty 16-0 advantage.
Grambling managed to score three runs in the bottom of the third, before Southeast added three more in the fourth and another two in the fifth to put the finishing touches on its 21-3 win.
Nine different Redhawks had a hit, led by L. Patterson, Bethel, S. Patterson and McAllister who finished with two apiece. L. Patterson contributed three runs scored and four RBI, as well.
Meanwhile, Sallis (3), S. Patterson (3) and Kertz (4) chipped in a combined 11 runs scored. Kertz's four runs marked a new career-high.
In addition, Southeast had a total of 15 hits and scored 10 unearned runs.
L. Patterson (1-0) earned the win in her first career start. Patterson allowed three hits and struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings.
Stefanie Barnes worked the rest of the way, giving up three runs on two hits, while striking out four in two innings.
Hillary Velasquez took the loss. Velasquez gave up 13 runs (five unearned) on four hits and walked seven in just 1.1 innings.
Southeast outscored Grambling State, 36-11, in two games at the Mardi Gras Classic.

Southeast overcame an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Sallis hit a leadoff single up the middle and went to second on an error. Cowan followed with an infield hit to load the bases with one out. L. Patterson knocked in Sallis, Kertz and Cowan on her ensuing double to left center, giving the Redhawks a 3-1 lead.
Southeast tacked on another run in the second when Kertz smacked a two-out single through the left side to score Sallis.
UL Monroe broke down defensively in the fourth, committing two errors which led to four unearned runs.
The Redhawks had the bases loaded when Warhawk third baseman Haley McCall mis-handled Cowan's groundball. Becker and S. Patterson both scored on the play. Back-to-back RBI-singles by L. Patterson and Xia Wilson came after that pushing Southeast's lead to 8-1.
The Warhawks didn't go down quietly, rallying for three runs to slice Southeast's lead in half in the top of the seventh. An error, passed ball and run-scoring double by Haylie Wilson plated those three runs before Wilson gunned down Kayla Boening at second base for the final out of the game.
L. Patterson capped her big day by going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Shea Cothren evened her record to 1-1 on the year. Cothren went the distance, allowing six hits and four runs. She also struck out four and walked three.
