Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season On Saturday Afternoon

The Redhawks won the OVC West Divsion with a win on Tuesday evening at UT Martin

The Redhawks will be the second seed in the OVC Tournament next weekend in Morehead, Ky.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. ­– The Southeast Missouri volleyball team wraps up their regular season on Saturday afternoon against Tennessee Tech at Houck Field House. The Redhawks will honor their three seniors prior to the contest as they will play their final Match at Houck Field House.

News and Notes:
West Division Champions
The Redhawks clinched the OVC West Division Championship on Tuesday night in a 3-1 win at UT Martin. The Redhawks will be the second seed in the OVC Tournament next weekend in Morehead, Ky. The Redhawks can also pick up their first 20 win season since 2007 with a win on Saturday afternoon against the Golden Eagles.

Series History
The Redhawks have a 34-11 lead in the all-time series against the Golden Eagles. The Redhawks took both meetings from TTU last season and have currently won three straight contest against the Golden Eagles.

Balanced Attack
Southeast had four players reach double-digit kills in a 3-1 win over UT Martin on Tuesday night. Emily Coon added a team-high 13 with Colleen Yarber adding 12 kills and Brittney Kalinoski and Kelsey Keeve adding 11 kills.

Preseason All-OVC
Junior middle blocker Emily Coon and junior setter Julie Shives were named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference by OVC coaches and sports information directors. Coon was named to Preseason All-OVC in 2011 and earned postseason All--OVC honors as well.

Preseason Polls
The Southeast Missouri volleyball team was picked third in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. The  Redhawks received 192 points and two first place votes in this season's poll. Morehead State the defending OVC Champions were picked to win the league with 242 points and 22 first place votes. Newcomer Belmont was picked second with 198 points after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2011.
