Southeast Heads to League-Leading Eastern Illinois
Southeast Missouri (3-6, 2-4) hits the road to face Ohio Valley Conference-leading Eastern Illinois (6-3, 5-1) Saturday. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m., CT, at O'Brien Field. The Panthers are currently tied atop the league standings with UT Martin.
Series History
Eastern Illinois holds a 13-6 advantage in its all-time series against Southeast. The Redhawks have won the last two meetings by scores of 37-30 in 2011 and 28-13 in 2010. Southeast is 2-7 all-time versus the Panthers in Charleston.
Peiffer Approaches 100 Tackles
Southeast linebacker
Blake Peiffer needs just one tackle to get 100 in a season for the second-straight year. Peiffer, who currently has a team-high 99 tackles, recorded 10 or more a total of 16 times in his career. He has posted double-digit tackles in 14 of his last 18 starts. Peiffer set the school's single-season record with 151 stops in 2011. Adam Casper (108 in 2006; 112 in 2007) was the last Southeast player to get 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons. Peiffer ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference and 13th in the nation in tackles through eight starts this year. Only one other player in the OVC has posted 100 tackles this year (Ben Johnson, UT Martin, 110).
Jackson Finds the End Zone
True freshman quarterback
Blake Jackson scored his first career rushing touchdown on a 14-yard run with 4:03 left to play in the fourth quarter against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 3). Jackson led the Redhawks with 68 yards on 10 carries, averaging 6.8 yards per carry in that game.
100-Yard Man
Levi Terrell ran for over 100 yards in five of six Ohio Valley Conference games this season. Terrell cleared 100 rushing yards in each of his first five OVC starts before seeing that streak come to an end when he finished with 57 yards against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 3). He ran for a career and season-high 171 yards versus Tennessee Tech (Sept. 22).
Redhawks Go For Second-Straight Road Win
Southeast will go after its second-straight road victory when it heads to Eastern Illinois this week. The Redhawks snapped a 10-game road losing skid with a 48-27 win at Austin Peay (Oct. 27). Southeast last posted back-to-back wins on the road in 2010 (at Eastern Illinois, at Austin Peay).
