KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (20-25, 19-25, 20-25) decision at UMKC Tuesday evening in Kansas City. It is UMKC's first win against the Redhawks as Southeast now owns a 7-1 record in the all-time series. The Redhawks drop to 16-10 overall and the Roos improve to 15-10.
The Roos hit .252 on the night as Southeast hit .121. UMKC added six service aces to go along with their 47 kills.
Senior
Brittney Kalinoski, a native of nearby Overland Park, Kan. led Southeast with 13 kills on the night. She also added 10 digs.
The Kangaroos took the first set from the Redhawks 25-20. UMKC hit .382 in the set with 15 kills. They also added three service aces in the frame.
UMKC jumped out to a 10- 5 lead in the second frame, but the Redhawks used a four-point run to come within one point at 10-9. The Roos followed with a 5-1 run as they worked their way to a win in the frame 25-19.
The Roos pulled ahead late on the Redhawks in the third frame with an 8-4 run taking a 23-17 lead. The Redhawks made a comeback bid late, but the Roos took the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
Bekley Idel added 18 digs to pace the Redhawks defense.
The Redhawks return home this weekend taking on SIUE and EIU in OVC action at Houck Field House.
