EKU 3 Southeast Missouri 2 - Box Score
RICHMOND, Ky. - The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team dropped Saturday afternoon's match against Eastern Kentucky, 3-2 (25-19, 25-27, 23-25, 25-20, 8-15). Southeast drops to 16-9 overall, 8-2 in OVC play.
Emily Coon had 18 kills in the match-up against EKU. Colleen Yarber had 15 kills of her own. Berkley Idel has 27 digs on the afternoon.
The Redhawks took the first set 25-19. Coon added seven kills in the first frame.
Despite the Redhawks leading much of the second set, the Colonels rallied back late in the set to win 27-25 on an 8-1 run.
Eastern Kentucky rallied in the third set to take a 2-1 match lead, 25-23. The set was back and forth as the Colonels jumped out to an 8-4 lead. The Redhawks rallied to take a four point lead but EKU tied the set at 23 and took the third set 25-23.
Southeast was able to hold off EKU and win the fourth set, 25-20. The Redhawks opened up a ten-point lead in the set. Once again, the Colonels rallied to narrow the Redhawks's lead to three points. Southeast was able to hold off the Colonels and force a decisive fifth set.
EKU opened up the final set on a eight-point run and never looked back as they took the final set, 15-8 and win the match 3-2 over Southeast.
The Redhawks travel to Kansas City, Mo. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to take on UMKC at 7 p.m.
