CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. ­–  The Southeast Missouri volleyball team puts their undefeated Ohio Valley Conference record on the line at defending OVC Champion and fellow unbeaten Morehead State on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., Friday's game can be seen on the OVC Digital Network. Southeast then heads to Eastern Kentucky for an afternoon match at 1:00 p.m. against the Colonels on Saturday, a match that can also be seen on the OVC Digital Network.

News and Notes:

Impressive Stretch
Southeast has won 10 of 11 games dating back to September 15 against Kent State. During that stretch the Redhawks recorded a six game winning streak that was snapped last against Arkansas State. The Redhawks went 5-1 at home during that stretch.

Career Weekend
Junior Colleen Yarber had a great week for the Redhawks last week recording 43 kills. She recorded a career-high 23 against Tennessee State on Saturday. She added 10 kills in the fourth set to help the Redhawks in a comeback effort. She added 20 kills on Friday against Belmont. On the week she recorded 47 points. Junior Libero Berkley Idel recorded a career-high 28 digs on Friday against Belmont. She has had 28 digs three times in her career.

Climbing The Charts
Junior setter Julie Shives moved to sixth all-time in assists at Southeast Missouri with 3,040. She passed Amy Henken on Friday against Belmont, where she had a career-high 53 assists. She recorded 942 assists in her first season and 1,180 in 2011.

Series History
Southeast Missouri is 25-18 all-time against the Eagles. The Redhawks dropped all three meetings against Morehead State last season. The Eagles defeated the Redhawks in the semifinals of the OVC Championship Tournament  last season. Southeast Missouri is 31-6 all-time against EKU. The Redhawks took all three meetings last season. Southeast has won six straight against the Colonels and 11 of 12 match ups since 2006.

Preseason All-OVC
Junior middle blocker Emily Coon and junior setter Julie Shives were named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference by OVC coaches and sports information directors. Coon was named to Preseason All-OVC in 2011 and earned postseason All--OVC honors as well.

Preseason Polls
The Southeast Missouri volleyball team was picked third in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll. The  Redhawks received 192 points and two first place votes in this season's poll. Morehead State the defending OVC Champions were picked to win the league with 242 points and 22 first place votes. Newcomer Belmont was picked second with 198 points after winning the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2011.
