Martin, Tenn. - The Southeast Missouri volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at UT Martin (8-7, 3-2 OVC) Friday evening in Martin, Tenn. The loss snaps a three game winning streak for the Redhawks. The scores of the match were 25-14, 16-25, 25-23, 25-21).
The Redhawks (6-10, 4-2 OVC) took the first set in impressive fashion downing the Skyhawks 25-14. Southeast hit .419 in the frame with 16 kills and only three attacking errors.
The first frame featured a close battle in the early stages until the Redhawks used a six-point run to take a 12-6 lead. The six-point run was highlighted by three services aces by Sophomore
Julie Shives.
The Skyhawks took the second set 25-16. Southeast was held to a hitting percentage of .074 in the frame as the Redhawks committed seven errors. UT Martin used a five-point run in the frame to pull away from the Redhawks.
UT Martin took the third set 25-23 as the Skyhawks held off the Redhawks late to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Southeast was down 24-20 late in the set, but the Redhawks managed to cut the lead to 24-23, but the Skyhawks ended up taking the final point of the set.
The Skyhawks took the final set 25-21 over the Redhawks. UT Martin held the Redhawks to a game-low hitting percentage of .046 in the set on their way to the victory.
The Redhawks were close late, but a three-point run by the Skyhawks gave UT Martin the momentum as they won the match 3-1.

Brittney Kalinoski led southeast as the junior from Overland Park, Kan. recorded 10 kills for the Redhawks. Senior

Karlee Lursen each added nine kills for Southeast.
The Redhawks defense was paced by junior
Samantha Lowman of Lincoln, Ill., who tied a career-high with 23 digs on the night. Shives also added a career-high 22 digs on the night.
The Redhawks will be in action on Tuesday as Southeast opens up their Dig For Life Campaign at 6:30 p.m. at Houck Fieldhouse against Eastern Illinois.
