MURRAY, Ky. – Jessie Crabtree contributed to all three goals to lift the Southeast Missouri State soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Murray State on Monday afternoon.

Crabtree assisted on the Redhawks' (6-2-1, 2-0 Ohio Valley) first two tallies and scored an insurance goal in the second half to keep Southeast perfect in OVC play.

Monday's match was originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon, but was postponed due to lightning.

“Jess' consistently high level of play and her work ethic is that of an elite Division I student-athlete and our athletes feed off that,” Southeast head coach Heather Nelson said. “It's great to see her finish a goal and put the final nail in the coffin.”

The Redhawks' quick-strike attack broke through a little past the midway point of the first half. Southeast moved out of its own end on a goal kick and a header by Crabtree that reached Lauren Bozesky, who drove down the left side and fired the ball into the top of the net in the 27th minute.

Southeast added another tally just 1:25 later when Erin Shulman first-timed a cross into the net for her eighth goal of the year, Crabtree and Vanessa Hart assisted on the play. The freshman's tally gave the Redhawks a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Murray State (2-6-2, 0-1-1 OVC) possessed the ball for long portions early in the second half, but the Racers were unable to create a quality shot from in close over the final 45 minutes of play.

Crabtree put the finishing touches on a strong Southeast effort with her fourth goal of the year in the 82nd minute. Ali Bauer drilled a crossing feed just in front of the 6-yard box and the senior converted to cap the scoring.

The shutout is Southeast's fifth of the season, all coming in the past seven matches. The Redhawks have allowed only three total goals in that span.

Murray State outshot Southeast, 17-10, though the Redhawks put seven of their shots on net compared to the Racers' six. MSU also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ashton Aubuchon posted her third solo shutout of the year, turning aside six Murray State shots.

“I'm very pleased with how Ashton played in goal,” Nelson said. “She came up with some difficult saves today. I am also happy with our team defense. I think because we defend so well that we create a lot of good possessions and attacking opportunities.

The Redhawks continue OVC play on Friday when they host Eastern Illinois at Houck Stadium. Opening kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
