Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Redhawks (4-10, 2-1 OVC) hosts a pair of Ohio Valley Conference games this weekend as Southeast plays host to Jacksonville State (3-9, 1-1 OVC) Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., CT. The Redhawks will then host Tennessee Tech (1-11, 0-2 OVC), Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Houck Fieldhouse and live stats will be available by visiting GoSoutheast.com.
Series History
Jacksonville State holds an 11-9 lead in the all-time series against the Redhawks. Last season, Southeast and Jacksonville State split the season series with each team winning at their home court. The Redhawks hold a 34-11 lead in the all-time series against Tennessee Tech that dates back to 1980. Last season, the two teams split the season series with each team taking games on the road. Southeast defeated the Golden Eagles 3-1 in Cookeville, Tenn. in the season finale last season.
Triple-Double Trouble
Sophomore Julie Shives of Grove City, Ohio recorded a triple-double against Murray State, Tuesday. Shives recorded a season-high 46 set assists, 11 kills and 10 digs. Shives, currently ranks eighth on the career set assists chart at Southeast with 1,399 set assists.
Trend Setter
Brittney Kalinoksi, a junior from Overland Park, Kan., has developed into an offensive threat. Kalinoski has 141 kills on the season to lead the Redhawks. She had a career-high 17 kills against Evansville at the Dunn Hospitality Tournament. Kalinoski has led the Redhawks in kills in six matches this season.
Senior Leaders
Seniors Paige Dossey of Avon, Ind. and Holy Reynolds of Ozark, Mo. led the Redhawks in a 3-2 victory over Murray State Tuesday evening. Dossey had a career-high 20 digs against the Racers. Reynolds had career-high six blocks against Murray State including three blocks in the final five points to lead the Redhawks past the Racers.
Home Cooking
Head Coach Julie Folliard joined Cindy Gannon and Kerri Harris as Southeast head coaches to win their first home match. The Redhawks defeated Murray State, Tuesday evening to claim Folliard's first win in the friendly confines of Houck Fieldhouse.
The Dig on Jacksonville State
The Gamecocks come into the weekend sporting a record of 3-9 overall and 1-1 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Jacksonville State has yet to win a game on the road this season.
Jacksonville State is hitting .177 as team on the season, averaging 12 kills per set (Sixth OVC). The Gamecocks are averaging 11 assists per set as well as 1.6 service aces per set, which ranks second in the OVC.
Defensively, the Gamecocks average 13.6 digs per contest ranking eighth in the OVC. Jacksonville State averages 1.7 blocks per set ranking third in the OVC.
Stephanie Koontz, who is averaging 2.67 kills per set, leads Jacksonville State. Koontz is hitting .288 on the season ranking third in the OVC. Kelly Cole has 146 digs on the season averaging 3.56 per set to lead the Gamecocks defensively.
The Dig on Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with an overall record of 1-11 and a 0-2 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. Like Jacksonville State the Golden Eagles have yet to win a game on the road this season.
Tennessee Tech is averaging 10 kills per set, while hitting .133 on the season. The Golden Eagles average 9.6 set assists per set and 0.5 service aces per frame.
Defensively, TTU averages 12.9 digs per frame and 1.7 blocks per set, ranking fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Natalie Penrod who has 129 kills on the season leads the Golden Eagles. Penrod averages three kills per set ranking seventh in the OVC. Penrod also averages 2.05 digs per set. Ellen Conti is averaging 2.33 kills per set on the season with 93 kills. Allison May has 193 digs on the year to lead TTU. Kelsey Gray leads TTU in blocks with 34.
