Last Week – Southeast traveled to in-state foe Saint Louis in its final match before Ohio Valley Conference play. The Redhawks dominated possession and finished with a 18-7 advantage in shots. However, Southeast was unable to solve SLU keeper Katie Walsh, who made eight saves, in a 0-0 tie.
Erin Shulman and
Vanessa Hart fired four shots apiece, several of which were quality scoring opportunities.
Scouting Austin Peay – The Governors posted the best non-conference record (6-3) in the Ohio Valley Conference. APSU stormed out to a 3-0 start, outscoring the oppositiion by a 23-0 mark, but has gone 3-3 since then. Austin Peay boasts the nation's third-highest scoring offense at 3.78 goals per game, though it was shut out for the first time all year on Sunday when it dropped a 1-0 decision to Xavier. Tatiana Ariza leads the OVC with 28 points (3.11 per match), while Claire Pultz has poured in five goals in only four contests. APSU has used two keepers in net thus far in Haylee Shoaff (0.89 goals against average) and Mackenzie Ladd (0.86 goals against average). Shoaff leads all OVC keepers with an .857 save percentage.
Scouting Murray State – The Racers have not played since posting a 2-1 road victory at Arkansas State on Sept. 11. The Racers stumbled to a 1-4 start to the year, a span where they were outscored 12-4. Things have turned around for MSU lately as it holds a 1-1-1 mark while allowing only three goals in its past three matches. The racers are eighth in the OVC in scoring (0.75 goals per game) and dead last in goals against average (1.82). Julie Mooney paces Murray State with five points on two goals and one assist and Yi Du has started all eight contests in goal with a 1.68 goals against average, a .711 save percentage and two solo shutouts.

All-Time Series – Southeast holds a record of 8-2-1 all-time against Austin Peay and a 7-6 mark against Murray State.
Last Meeting – Austin Peay avenged a regular season setback against Southeast by eliminating the Redhawks from las tyear's OVC Tournament on the strength of a 3-1 win on Nov. 11. A penalty kick goal snapped a 1-1 tie with 1:37 remaining in that contest. The Redhawks scored a 2-1 victory over Murray State on the road last season on Oct. 22, which clinched Southeast's berth in the OVC Tournament.
Bringing the D – Southeast's bread and butter has been its stellar defensive play. The Redhawks boast a conference-best 0.83 goals against average and are tied for the OVC lead with four shutouts, all of which have come in the last five matches. The Redhawks' top three defenders
Nikki Edwards (635 minutes),
Hayley Abbott (630 minutes) and
Meg Herndon (579 minutes) have combined to play 1844 out of a possible 1950 minutes (94.6 percent of the minutes).
Magic Number is 2 – One of the trends emerging for Southeast this season is its success when scoring two goals or more this season. The Redhawks are a perfect 3-0 when they find the back of the net at least twice, but are 1-2-1 when scoring less than two goals.
Winning the Close Ones – Southeast managed to grind out a 1-0 victory over Butler in the first match of the Tropical Smoothie Invitational on Sept. 9. In addition to their fewest goals scored in a victory this season, the Redhawks improved to 2-1 in one-goal contests in 2011.
Last Line of Defense – On the rare occassion that a quality scoring opportunity has presented itself for the opposition, sophomore goalkeeper
Ashton Aubuchon has been equal to the task. In her past six matches, Aubuchon has stopped 24 of 28 shots (.857 save percentage) and has a 0.67 goals against average with two solo shutout in 540:32 between the posts.
New Blood – Some of the newest members of the Redhawks are making the biggest impact on the scoresheet. Freshman

Jessie Crabtree (three goals) pace the Southeast attack with a combined eight goals and 16 points in the young season. Each has one multi-goal outing with Crabtree netting a pair of goals in the season-opener at Illinois State and Shulman finding the back of the net twice against Arkansas State on Aug 28.
