Volleyball Heads to Indiana for IU Classic

Cape Girardeau, Mo. -
The Redhawks travel to Bloomington, Ind. this weekend to take part in the Indiana University Classic. The Redhawks will open the tournament against Indiana at 6:00 p.m., Friday. Southeast will then face the University of Buffalo, Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. The Redhawks will close out the tournament at 4:30 p.m., Saturday against Youngstown State. Road Warriors


    The Redhawks open the season with a 13-game slate away from Houck Fieldhouse in 2011. Southeast will take part in three tournaments: Memphis Invitational, Indiana Tournament and Evansville Tournament to open the season. Southeast will also visit Arkansas State in a non-conference tilt. The Redhawks will close out their road swing with trips to OVC foes Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville before opening their home schedule against Murray State on September 20th.

Shives Reaches 1,000 Set Assists


    Sophomore Julie Shives of  Hillard, Ohio reached the 1,000 set plateau over the weekend. Shives has 1,049 career set assists, which ranks eighth on the carer list at Southeast Missouri.

Career Weekend for Kalinoski and Yarber


    Junior Brittney Kalinoski and sophomore Colleen Yarber opened up the 2011 season on a mission. The tandem led the Redhawks offense over the weekend. Kalinoski had 40 kills at the Memphis Invitational, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The 40 kills surpasses her total of 33 in 2010.  She posted a career-high 11 kills against Memphis and Alabama A&M. Yarber added 33 kills over the weekend surpassing her season total of 31 in 2010. Yarber posted a career-high 15 kills against Alabama A&M.
