Southeast vs. Morehead State Box Score
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Southeast Missouri volleyball team ended their season with a 3-0 (21-25, 21-25, 25-15) loss Friday night against Morehead State in the Semi-Finals of the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

The Eagles got out to a 7-3 lead in the first set as Morehead State swung away hitting .500 with six kills. The Redhawks offensive could not find rhythm as Morehead State built a 13-8 lead as Southeast made three attack errors with only two kills.
The Redhawks made a four-point run after a timeout to tie the first set at 19-19. But the Eagles closed out the frame on a 6-2 run to take the set 25-21. Southeast hit .051 in the frame with seven attacking errors.
The Redhawks took their first lead of the match at 5-4 in the second set. But the Eagles went on a 8-1 run to take a 12-6 lead. The Eagles built a 15-8 advantage, but Southeast used a three-point run to cut the Eagles lead to 15-11.
The Redhawks used a late run in the second set to come within three at 20-17. The Redhawks used another run to cut the lead to 22-21, but that would be as close as the Redhawks would get Morehead State took the set 25-21 and took a 2-0 match lead.
The Redhawks offense improved in the second frame hitting .200, but the Eagles continued their offensive prowess with 18 kills in the frame hitting .293.
The Eagles jumped on the Redhawks 5-2 in the opening of the third frame. Southeast battled back and cut the MSU lead to 7-5, but a three-point run by the Eagles increased their lead to 10-5.
A 5-2 run gave the Eagles a commanding 15-7 lead halfway through the frame as MSU was hitting .653 at that point in the set. The Redhawks could not sustain a run in the third set as they dropped the third frame and the match 3-0.
The Redhawks hit .094 on the night with 28 kills. The Eagles offense was strong hitting .298 on the evening with 51 kills.
Southeast was led by sophomore
Emily Coon, who had a team-high 10 kills hitting at a .368 clip.
Colleen Yarber added six kills and eight digs. Libero
Berkley Idel led the Redhawks with 13 digs.
The Redhawks finish the season with a 14-19 overall record and an 11-9 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. Southeast Missouri was picked ninth in the OVC Preseason Polls and finished the regular season in fourth place and qualified for the OVC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2008. The Redhawks picked up a win in the first round of the OVC Championship Tournament for the first time since 2006.
