CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Redhawks close out the regular season with a pair of matches at Houck Fieldhouse this weekend. Southeast will host Austin Peay on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., CT. The Redhawks will then host Tennessee State on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m., CT. Two Redhawk seniors will play their final games at Houck Fieldhouse as
Paige Dossey and
Holly Reynolds will be honored before the match against the Tigers.
Magic Number
Southeast Missouri's magic number to reach the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament is one win. If the Redhawks can secure one win in their final two matches of the regular season they will return to the OVC Tournament for the first time since 2008.

The Southeast Missouri volleyball team recorded a season-high 17 blocks in a 3-2 (16-25, 33-31, 23-25, 25-16, 15-9) win over Austin Peay, Oct. 7th. The Redhawks were led by
Julie Shives ,who dished out 49 assists on the night and added a career-high 23 digs. Sophomore
Emily Coon also added a career-high 10 blocks.

The Southeast Missouri volleyball team dropped a five set thriller Oct. 8th at Tennessee State ( falling to the Tigers 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11 ). Sophomore middle blocker
Emily Coon added nine blocks to lead the Redhawks, she also added nine kills.
Double-Double Trouble
Sophomore setter
Julie Shives is a double-double machine for the Redhawks this season. Shives has double-doubles in 22 of 29 games so far this season and has double-doubles in 14 of 18 OVC contests. Shives is on Shives is on pace to surpass 2,000 assists this weekend as the sophomore needs only 14 more assists to reach the mark. Shives recorded a season-high 50 assists against SIUE on Tuesday evening.
Late Season Surge
Sophomores
Berkley Idel and
Colleen Yarber have made an impact on the Redhawks during the last nine matches. Since her return to the libero position Idel has been impressive averaging 5.05 digs per set. She tied a career-high with 28 digs last Friday against Morehead State. Yarber has been on fire offensively for the Redhawks as she is averaging 3.59 kills per set in the last nine games to lead the Redhawks. Yarber had a career-high 18 kills against EKU on Oct. 14th.
The Dig on Austin Peay
The Governors come into the weekend sporting a record of 10-19 overall and a 8-10 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Lady Govs are battling for a spot in the OVC Volleyball Championship Tournament. Last weekend, Austin Peay hit the road and fell to Tennessee State 3-1 and defeated UT Martin 3-2
The Lady Govs rank second in the OVC in hitting percentage at .198. They rank second in the OVC in kills averaging 12.98 per set. APSU also ranks fourth in the OVC in assists at 12.0 per frame. The Lady Govs rank eighth in the OVC in services aces at 1.05
Defensively, Austin Peay ranks fourth in the OVC in digs at 16.45 per set. The Lady Govs rank seventh in the OVC in blocks at 1.69 per set. APSU ranks 10th in the OVC in opponent hitting percentage at .224.
The Lady Govs are led by Nikki Doyle, who is averaging 3.46 kills per set. Cami Fields ranks third in the OVC in assists at 10.46. Lauren Henderson ranks seventh in the OVC in blocks at 0.89.
The Dig on Tennessee State
The Tigers come into the weekend with an 16-10 overall record and a 11-7 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Tigers have clinched a spot in next weeks Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament,
Tennessee State is seventh in the OVC in hitting percentage at .175. The Tigers are averaging 12.96 kills per set ranking third in the OVC. TSU is averaging 12.04 assists per set ranking third in the OVC. Tennessee State is second in the OVC in service aces per set at 1.40.
Defensively, The Tigers rank third in the OVC in opponent hitting percentage at .184. TSU ranks ninth in the OVC in blocking averaging 1.44 per set. The Tigers also rank eighth in the OVC in digs per set at 14.83.
The Tigers are led by Shaquita Williams who ranks fourth in the OVC in hitting percentage at .308. She ranks second in kills (3.77) and leads the league and ranks third in the nation in service aces at 0.53 per set. Setter Erika Moss ranks fourth in the OVC in assists at 10.38 per frame.
