Volleyball Heads to Austin Peay and Tennessee State This Weekend

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. - The Redhawks hit the road for a pair of games this weekend. Southeast Missouri will head to Austin Peay Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., CT. to take on the defending OVC champions. The Redhawks will then head to Nashville to take on Tennessee State in a Saturday afternoon matinee at 2:00 p.m., CT.
 
Series History
The Redhawks hold a 37-5 lead in the all-time series against Tennessee State. The Redhawks dropped two games against the Tigers last season. Southeast holds a 30-16 record against Austin Peay. In 2010, The Governors took two matches from the Redhawks by the scores of 3-0.
 
We Own the Night
The Redhawks are 4-1 in night games in Ohio Valley Conference Matches. The Redhawks have won three of those matches in the friendly confines of Houck Fieldhouse.   
 
Reynolds has Big Night
Senior middle blocker Holly Reynolds of Ozark, Mo., had a big night for the Redhawks Tuesday evening as she tied a career-high with 10 kills for the Redhawks. She also added five blocks on the night falling one short of her career-high
 
Force in the Middle
Sophomore Emily Coon hit a season-high .619 in Tuesday's match against Eastern Illinois. The .619 hitting percentage was the highest recorded hitting percentage in the league so far this season. Coon ended the night with 14 kills falling just one shy of her career high of 15. She made only one attacking error in the match in 21 total attempts.
 
The Dig on Austin Peay

The Governors come into the weekend sporting a record of  4-14 overall and a 2-5 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. Austin Peay is currently riding a two game winning streak as the Lady Govs defeated Tennessee Tech (3-0) last Saturday, and then defeated Eastern Kentucky (3-2) on Monday.

The Lady Govs rank third in the OVC in hitting percentage at .190. They rank fifth in the OVC in kills averaging 12.38 per set. APSU also ranks fifth in the OVC in assists at 11.53 per frame.

Defensively, Austin Peay ranks sixth in the OVC in digs at 15.24 per set. The Lady Govs rank eighth in the OVC in blocks at 1.43 per set. APSU ranks 10th in the OVC in opponent hitting percentage at .247.

The Lady Govs are led by Nikki Doyle, who is averaging 3.43 kills per set. Cami Fields ranks third in the OVC in assists at 10.06. Lauren Henderson ranks fifth in the OVC in blocks at 0.87.
 
The Dig on Tennessee State
The Tigers come into the weekend with an 8-6 overall record and a 4-3 record in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Tigers have a 2-1 record at home this season. TSU dropped a five-set heartbreaker against league leader Morehead State Monday evening falling 3-2.

Tennessee State is ninth in the OVC in hitting percentage at .167. The Tigers are averaging 12.29 kills per set also ranking sixth in the OVC. Tennessee State is second in the OVC in service aces per set at 1.47.

Defensively, The Tigers rank third in the OVC in opponent hitting percentage at .179. TSU ranks 11th in the OVC in blocking averaging 1.12 per set. The Tigers also rank eighth in the OVC in digs per set at 14.71.

The Tigers are led by Shaquita Williams who ranks second in the OVC in hitting percentage at .320. She ranks second in kills (3.80) and leads the league and ranks third in the nation in service aces at 0.60 per set.
