CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –
Jessie Crabtree's five-point effort lifted the Southeast Missouri State soccer team to an Ohio Valley Conference clinching 3-0 win over Jacksonville State at Houck Stadium on Friday night.

Crabtree scored twice in the first half and assisted on another insurance tally to lead the Redhawks (11-5-1, 7-1-0 OVC) to their fourth regular season OVC title in program history, their first since 2007.

“The team played very well tonight,” Southeast head coach Heather Nelson said. “Our ball movement was excellent and we were threatening on both corner kicks and free play.”

Crabtree got Southeast off on the right foot in record fashion, scoring 26 seconds in for the fastest goal to open a match in school history. Ali Bauer fed a pass to the sideline to Shona Goodwin, who crossed a perfect feed that the senior forward headed home to make it a 1-0 contest.

The Marion, Ill. native found the net again in the 14th minute as she sealed a defender off to take a pass from Jacey Boyko. Crabtree then turned on the defender and found an opening down the right side, where she blasted a shot off the far post and in put the Redhawks up by two goals.

“Jessie played great tonight,” Nelson said. “Shona played a great ball in the air, where Jessie is so dominant. I thought her second goal was more impressive when she turned the defender. That was a brilliant soccer goal.”

Southeast dominated in every facet in the first half, outshooting JSU 15-2 and holding a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. The effort paid off with the Redhawks up 2-0 at the break.

The second half was a microcosm of the first with Southeast once again possessing the ball for long stretches and territorially dominating play.

Crabtree helped put the contest away in the 55th minute when she dropped a pass to Bauer just outside the 18-yard box. Bauer's crossing feed found Boyko in front and she headed the ball into past Gamecocks' keeper Katelyn Geddings for her second goal of the season. That goal capped the scoring for the night.

Southeast fired a season-high 28 shots while allowing only four Jacksonville State attempts, which ties a season best. The Redhawks also attempted eight corner kicks while yielding only two Gamecock corners.

Ashton Aubuchon recorded her career-best seventh solo shutout of the year, making a strong save on a low line drive Chelsea Pelletier shot in the first half.

With the victory the Redhawks will host next week's OVC Tournament, which runs from Nov. 3-6. Southeast concludes its regular season against Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m. The Redhawks will also honor seniors Lauren Bozesky, Jessie Crabtree, Nikki Edwards, Shona Goodwin, Vanessa Hart and Taylor Thomas.
