Southeast at Jacksonville State Box Score
JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Southeast Missouri State volleyball team dropped a five set heartbreaker Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville Ala. falling to Jacksonville State 3-2 (27-25,25-17,20-25,16-25,6-15). Southeast took the first two sets, but could not find an offensive rythm in the final three frames as the Redhawks fall to 10-14 overall on the season and 8-5 in OVC play.
Southeast took the first frame 27-25. The Redhawks overcame seven attacking errors in the frame to take the win. Southeast held the Gamecocks to a .196 hitting percentage.
The Redhawks took a 2-0 match lead after taking the second set 25-17. Southeast hit a match-high .333 in the second frame with nine kills. The Redhawks held the Gamecocks to a game low .088 hitting percentage with 10 errors.
"We came out flat after the second set break, we just could not recover from that," said head coach Julie Folliard.
The Redhawks dropped the final three sets as Southeast recorded 17 errors in the final three frames. The Gamescocks were aggressive hitting the ball with 40 kills in the final three frames as they took the win 3-2.
Southeast was lead by
Colleen Yarber who had 14 kills. Sophomore
Berkley Idel was solid with 18 digs.
Brittney Kalinoski and
Emily Coon added nine kills each for Southeast.
The Redhawk volleyball team travels to Murray State on Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. game.
