MARTIN, Tenn. –
Lauren Bozesky and Courtney Luehmann scored first half goals as the Southeast Missouri State soccer team won a critical road match at UT Martin, 2-1, on Friday.

The Redhawks (10-3-1, 6-1 Ohio Valley) now have 18 points to lead the Ohio Valley Conference. They now lead the Skyhawks (8-6-2, 3-3-1 OVC) by eight points in the league standings.

Bozesky got Southeast on the board in the third minute when she blasted a shot from 30 yards out to make it a 1-0 contest. The tally is the senior's sixth of the year.

Southeast continued to press the attack and got some breathing room when Courtney Luehmann tallied her first goal of the season in the 36th minute of play. The goal was set up on a rebound that was played by Jacey Boyko to Luehmann for a point blank shot.

It appeared the Redhawks would maintain their two-goal cushion going into the break until the Skyhawks' Brooke Robertson fired a high rising shot from 35 yards out that went just over Ashton Aubuchon with 12 seconds remaining to cut the Southeast lead to one at the break.

Southeast came out and fired the first four shots of the second half, but could not extend its lead in the opening moments. UT Martin actually held a 12-6 advantage in shots in the final 45 minutes, but only placed one of those attempts on goal, which was stopped by Aubuchon to secure the victory.

The Skyhawks finished with a 19-14 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks, but the Redhawk defense never yielded the tying tally.

Aubuchon picked up her 10th victory over the season by making two saves.

The Redhawks step out of OVC play on Sunday when they host Big 12 foe Iowa State at Houck Stadium. Opening kickoff is at 1 p.m. CT. Fans who are unable to make it the match can catch the live webcast provided by KFVS12.com.
