CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. –
With five regular season matches remaining, the Southeast Missouri State soccer team (9-3-1, 5-1 Ohio Valley) aims to move closer to clinching an OVC championship when it concludes its road schedule this weekend. The Redhawks travel to second-place UT Martin (8-5-2, 3-2-1 OVC) on Friday night (6 p.m. CT), before returning home for a nonconference match against Big 12 foe Iowa State on Sunday (1 p.m. CT) at Houck Stadium. Sunday's match against the Cyclones will be streamed by the KFVS12.com live webcast.

Last Week – Southeast suffered its first loss in Ohio Valley Conference play on Friday when it dropped a 2-1 decision at three-time defending OVC champion Morehead State before bouncing back with a 1-0 win at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. Lauren Bozesky tallied her third game-winning goal in the past three matches when she converted Shona Goodwin's crossing feed in the 56th minute of play. Ashton Aubuchon made that goal stand strong as she made a career-high tying eight saves to secure her sixth solo shutout of the year. With three conference matches remaining this season, the Redhawks find themselves with a five-point lead for first place in the OVC.

Scouting UT Martin – The Skyhawks are tied with Eastern Kentucky for second place in the OVC with 10 points and a 3-2-1 conference record, although UT Martin has played one more match than the Colonels. UT Martin split its contests over the weekend, dropping a 2-1 decision at Eastern Kentucky on Friday before outlasting Morehead State, 2-1, in overtime on Sunday. Rosaelia Loza leads the Skyhawks with 19 points (eight goals, three assists) while Hannah McGowen paces the team with six assists and ranks second with 12 points. UT Martin has used two keepers this season, with Lauren MacKenzie seeing most of the time and sporting a 1.08 goals against average, .836 save percentage and three shutouts. Mariah Klenke has clocked nearly 500 minutes in goal and boasts a 1.31 goals against average with a .720 save percentage and one shutout.

Scouting Iowa State – The Cyclones have dropped their past four matches since the start of Big 12 play. ISU has allowed 17 goals in 14 matches (1.20 goals against average), but is averaging only 1.14 goals per contest. Brittany Morgan leads the Cyclones with nine points (four goals, one assist) on the season. The goalkeeping duties have been split by Andrea Swanson (1.49 goals against average, .745 save percentge and two shutouts) and Maddie Jobe (0.52 goals against average, .880 save percentage and four shutouts).

Free Kicks:

All-Time Series – Southeast owns a 9-2-3 all-time record against UT Martin and has never faced Iowa State in the regular season.

Last Meeting – Nobody could put one in the back of the net as Southeast and UT Martin played to a scoreless draw in both teams' final OVC match of the 2010 season. The Skyhawks held a 17-11 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks, but nothing got past Ashton Aubuchon, who made six saves to help the Redhawks clinch the No. 2 seed in the OVC Tournament.

Coming Through – Senior Lauren Bozesky has been a key cog in the Redhawks' attack the past couple weeks. After a slow start to the year, Bozesky has netted four goals and an assist for nine points since the start of conference play, which tops all Southeast players. Three of her four goals in league play have been game winners, all of which have come in the past five contests.

Bringing the D – Southeast's bread and butter has been its stellar defensive play. The Redhawks boast a conference-best 0.68 goals against average and eight shutouts, all of which have come in the last 11 matches. The Redhawks' top three defenders Nikki Edwards (1175 minutes), Hayley Abbott (1135 minutes) and Meg Herndon (1058 minutes) have combined to play 2378 out of a possible 3030 minutes (94.3 percent of the minutes).

Magic Number is 2 – The key to Southeast's success has been the number two. The Redhawks' are a perfect 6-0 when they find the back of the net at least twice offensively. The number also applies to the back end as Southeast is an unbeaten 8-0-1 when allowing fewer than two goals.

Last Line of Defense – Sophomore goalkeeper Ashton Aubuchon is in range to make her mark on the Southeast single season record books this year. At nine wins, Aubuchon is only one victory away from moving into a fifth-place tie on the school's single season list. Her six solo shutouts already tied her total as a freshman and rank fifth in school history. While the season is not done, her .850 save percentage and 0.69 goals against average rank third and fourth, respectively, on the Redhawks' single-season charts.

New Blood – Some of the newest members of the Redhawks are making the biggest impact on the scoresheet.  Freshman Erin Shulman (nine goals, 18 points) and senior transfer Jessie Crabtree (five goals, 12 points) pace the Southeast attack with a combined 14 goals and 30 points this season. Their offensive prowess has carried the Redhawks thus far as they are 7-0 when Shulman scores at least one goal and 4-0 when Crabtree records at least one point.
