Nick South captured gold in the pole vault and silver in the heptathlon last week at the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at the Birmingham Crossplex. South, a Muscle Shoals, Alabama native, persevered over a height of 15-5.00 (4.70m) in the pole vault to earn gold in his home state. He also achieved silver in the heptathlon with 4,821 points. South won pole vault in the second to last heptathlon event Thursday with a height of 15-7 (4.75m). He was also second in the heptathlon’s 60 meter hurdles (8.60) and 60 meters (7.36).
