Denzel Mahoney led Southeast Missouri to a pair of big road victories last week. Mahoney, who faced Murray State (Jan. 26) and Austin Peay (Jan. 28) for the first time in his career, led the Redhawks in scoring during each of those contests. He matched a career-high 23 points on 9-of-15 field goals and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line in a 75-74 win over the Racers. The win gave SEMO its first road victory in Ohio Valley Conference play and snapped a 10-game losing streak away from home. Two days later, Mahoney poured in 22 points on 7-of-11 from the field and 6-of-10 at the free throw line in an 82-71 win over Austin Peay. For the week, Mahoney averaged 22.5 points, five rebounds and shot 61.5 percent (16-of-26) from the field. He led the Redhawks to only their second sweep of the Murray State/Austin Peay road trip in school history. Additionally, Mahoney has led the Redhawks in scoring four of his last five starts.Â
