Kayla Fortner hit .556 in six starts for Southeast Missouri last week. A native of Cedar Hill, Mo., Fortner went 10-for-18 with four runs scored, four doubles, a home run and 12 RBI. She narrowly missed hitting for the cycle in Southeast’s Ohio Valley Conference opener against UT Martin (Mar. 17), going 3-for-3 with two runs scored, her team-high seventh home run, a double and three RBI. Fortner ended her strong week with a 4-for-4 effort in the Redhawks win at Tennessee Tech (Mar. 21). She leads the conference with a .500 batting average and is hitting .750 with a 1.250 slugging percentage through four OVC games.
