Nearby Jackson native Blake Smith competed among the best long jumpers in the nation at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Mar. 14. Smith placed 14th with a jump of 23’5” to complete an outstanding indoor season. His  jump of 25'4.5" ranked 11th in the nation prior to the NCAA Championship event. Smith won the long jump at the OVC Indoor Championships.
