Patty Stotzheim begins her third season as the Southeast Missouri State Otahkians head gymnastics coach. A 1991 graduate of NCAA Division III Hamline University, Stotzheim served as Hamline's head coach for seven seasons prior to joining the Otakhian staff.
Stotzheim helped Southeast improve to 10-10 overall in 2001, and had a season that included 24 individual event winners. In addition, seveal gymnasts earned scores placing them in the top seven all-time highest scores at Southeast. As a team, they had the fourth highest score all-time on the floor with a 49.200 on 2/24 and broke the beam record twice in consecutive weeks at Illinois State, and Northern Illinois.
In her first season at Southeast, Stotzheim led the Otahkians to a 5-15 overall record. More importantly, Stotzheim coached two individuals to the NCAA Regionals in Stephanie Furman on vault and Malia Roberts on bars. This season, Stotzheim is looking to improve on the overall team scores and make a run at the NCAA Regionals.
At Hamline, Stotzheim led the squad to top four finishes in the NCGA Nationals every season and compiled a career coaching record of 72-41. At Hamline, Stotzheim had two athletes named Outstanding Senior Athletes at the National Tournament. Also, Hamline consistently had more Academic All-Americans than any other Division III program.
Stotzheim received a B.A. in Communications from Hamline which is located in St. Paul, Minnesota. At Hamline, she was a collegiate gymnast, earned Academic All-American honors and was voted Hamline's Most Dedicated Femalte Athlete in 1991. Stotzheim also competed as a gymnast at Winona State during the 1988 season.
