The 2019 campaign marks the third season for Chris Licameli as assistant coach at Southeast. Licameli coaches bars as well as co-coaches the vault and floor teams with head coach Ashley Lawson. Licameli’s role also involves assisting with recruiting and coordinating travel.
In 2018, Licameli coached three USA Gymnastics All-Americans in Alexis Brawner (first team on vault, second team on bars and floor), McKinzie Jones (first team on beam) and McKenna Stanley (second team on bars). Southeast averaged a bars score of 47.760 and posted a season-best mark of 48.775 against Centenary on March 9.
Under his guidance, the 2017 Redhawks team averaged a 47.523 on bars and recorded a season-best score of 48.800 against Air Force on March 5. Alexis Brawner earned All-MIC first-team honors on bars after she tallied a career-high of 9.825 at the MIC Championship.
A Lindenhurst, New York native, Licameli came to SEMO from Temple University, where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Recreation Management. While at Temple, Licameli spent two seasons as a manager for the men’s basketball team and one season as a Volunteer Assistant Coach, as well as the Director of Operations for the Owls’ gymnastics team.
He also worked as an Operations Assistant for Athletics Facilities, a Fundraising and Sponsorship committee member for Montague-Ridall & Associates and a Marketing/Facilities Intern for FlipFest Gymnastics Camp.
Licameli has coached at various camps over the last five years. Since 2012, he has worked nine total camps, including International Gymnastics Camp, FlipFest Summer Gymnastics Camp, University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland, Penn State University and the University of Alabama.
