Sarah Willis joined the Southeast Missouri softball program as an assistant coach on Sept. 5, 2012. Willis will be involved with all aspects of the program, including infield, outfield and recruiting.
"I'm pleased that Sarah is joining our staff. As a former Division I pitcher, she will offer our pitching staff an experience perspective from the mound," said Southeast head coach Lana Richmond. "She has been mentored by one of the premier pitching coaches in the country from Teresa Wilson while playing at Texas Tech. Sarah continued to train under Coach Wilson in the women's professional league this past summer."
Prior to Southeast, Willis was an assistant coach at Princeton University from 2010-2012. She coached the pitchers, catchers, outfielders, handled recruiting and monitored players' academic progress and class schedules among other duties during her time with the Tigers.
Willis also held similar responsibilities as an assistant softball coach with the North Carolina Diamonds professional organization this past summer.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Willis was regular part of the Texas Tech pitching staff from 2005-2008, finishing her career with 22 wins and 298 strikeouts in 113 appearances.
An accomplished student, Willis completed her bachelor's degree in psychology at Texas Tech in 2008 and later earned her master's degree in exercise and sport sciences. She made the Texas Tech dean's and president's honor lists and landed a spot on the Big 12 All-Academic Team as an undergraduate. In 2007, Willis had the highest GPA of any female athlete at the school.
