"What I enjoy most about being a part of Southeast Missouri State Softball is that it truly is a program. It is about being successful in all areas in life, not just on the softball field. When athletes graduate, they are ready for the work force. This is what I had as a student-athlete and I am privileged that I have the opportunity to help Coach Richmond do the same for athletes in this program."

As a collegiate athlete from 1996-2000, Soncini was a starting pitcher and designated player for the University of Northern Iowa. Soncini had much success on the field as well as in the classroom. She helped her team to two runner-up finishes in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in 1998 and 1999. During her junior year in 1999, she earned Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team accolades for her tournament efforts as well as set the single season strikeout record at Northern Iowa. In 2000, she helped lead her team to the regular season Missouri Valley Conference Title. For her performance she was chosen as a second team All-Conference selection. In the classroom, Soncini received the Perfect Panther Award for a 4.0 in a semester as well as being on the Dean's List several times. She was chosen to the first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference academic selection as well as selected to the GTE Academic All-America District Team in 2000. Soncini was also a part of the Student Athletic Advisory Council during her college career where she served as President from 1999 to 2000.

Prior to college, Soncini competed with the Orland Park Sparks softball organization out of the Chicagoland area for four years helping them to a seventh-place finish in 1995 and a national championship in 1996.

Coach Soncini graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Northern Iowa in 2000 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Criminology. She is currently working on completing her Masters in Public Administration at Southeast Missouri State.
