Tom Berryman was hired as director of operations at Southeast Missouri on Aug. 1, 2016.
Prior to Southeast Missouri, Berryman spent two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Charleston. He has nine years of coaching experience, including four as a member of Anthony Grant’s staff at the University of Alabama. Grant is currently an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Berryman served as Alabama’s video coordinator during the 2013-14 season. He was responsible for all aspects of video operations, which included assisting with team scouting reports, analyzing film for postgame analysis, creating individual player edits, and managing the team’s video library. Berryman was promoted to the video coordinator position after two years as a graduate assistant and one year as a volunteer graduate assistant.
Alabama experienced both team and individual success during Berryman’s time with the program. The Crimson Tide made three postseason appearances in Berryman’s four years, including a trip to the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Alabama also won the 2011 SEC Western Division title.
Berryman also worked with four players who were selected to a total of eight All-SEC teams. These include JaMychal Green of the Memphis Grizzlies and Tony Mitchell, who played with the Milwaukee Bucks. Fourteen players from Berryman’s tenure at Alabama have gone on to play professionally.
Before joining the University of Alabama program, Berryman spent three years coaching in the high school ranks. He spent two seasons (2008-2010) at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he served as the head freshman coach and as a varsity assistant. Berryman was also the head junior varsity coach and a varsity assistant at Holt High School for the 2007-2008 season.
During the summer of 2006, Berryman worked as an intern at IMG Basketball Academy in Bradenton, Florida. During his time there, he worked under the tutelage of Mike Moreau, one of the nation’s top skill development coaches. Berryman assisted Moreau in skill development workouts for numerous professional and collegiate players. He also served as an instructor for IMG’s high school summer camps.
Additionally, Berryman is a member of the Board of Directors for Rising Coaches Elite, an organization dedicated to the career development of young collegiate coaches. He was appointed to this position in 2013.
Berryman earned two degrees from the University of Alabama. He graduated cum laude in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. In 2012, he completed his master’s degree in human performance, which included an emphasis in sport management.
He and his wife, Kinsey, reside in Cape Girardeau.
