Biography

2024: Played in 59 games a season ago making 58 starts primarily in the outfield…Finished the season as SEMO’s batting champion with a team-high .329 batting average…In 213 at-bats, Stauss recorded 70 hits, 52 RBIs, nine home runs, and totaled 116 bases…Finished with a .545 slugging-percentage and an on-base percentage of .447…Drew 40 walks including getting hit-by-pitch eight times…Recorded two stolen bases on two attempts…Registered a game-high four hits against Eastern Illinois (3/22) and game-high two home runs against SIUE (3/30)…Finished with 80 putouts from the outfield with a .976 fielding-percentage…Was selected as a second team All-OVC selection as a utility player. 

2023: Played in 16 games, started 14 for the Redhawks…registered 47 at-bats, eight hits, eight runs, and drove in eight RBIs…Season was cut short due to injury. 

2022: Played in 50 games with 44 starts, including 34 as designated hitter…Ranked fifth on the team with a .263 batting average…Had 45 hits, 27 runs scored, six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 25 RBI…Added 17 walks…Collected multiple-hits 11 times and drove in two or more runs in five games…Went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two runs scored and three RBI at Austin Peay (4/3)…Strung together a season-best six-game hitting streak from May 20-27…Had two hits three times during that stretch…Went 3-for-5 with a run scored and season-high six RBI vs. Morehead State (4/23)…Finished with six hits and seven RBI in his series against the Eagles…Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection.

2021: Participated in 31 games and made 20 starts in left field…Registered 13 hits and eight runs scored…Added three doubles, 14 walks and five RBI…Logged his first career start at South Alabama (2/21), where he had his first collegiate RBI…Recorded his first career hit on a single at Arkansas (2/25)…Finished with a season-best two RBI in the series finale against Arkansas (2/28)…Notched a season-high two hits in games one (3/5) and four (3/7) of the Redhawks series vs. Illinois State…Drew two walks on four occasions…Stole three bases…OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection.

Prep: Hit .354 with a .747 slugging percentage during the 2019 campaign at Lafayette High School…Scored 25 runs, has seven doubles, a team-high six triples, four home runs and 19 RBI that year…Hit .513 with a .795 slugging percentage, 33 runs, 40 hits, nine doubles, five triples, a home run and 16 RBI in 2018…First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-State selection…Was named 2018 Conference Player of the Year…Garnered First-Team All-Conference honors in 2019, as well. 

Personal: Born September 5, 2001... Majoring in Computer Information Systems...Son of Dave and Tonia Stauss...Has three brothers, Cole, Wade and Jack...Wade played for SEMO and signed as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals.
