Returning starter at linebacker ... came to Southeast from Blinn Community College in Texas...quick defender who earned second-team all-OVC honors ... ranked 16th nationally in Division I-AA tackles for losses with 19 for 58 yards.

2000: Starter at strong linebacker ... recorded 97 tackles ... had a team high 19 tackles for losses of 58 yards ... seven quarterback sacks for 28 yards in losses ... seven quarterback hurries ... broke up two passes ... recovered two fumbles, forced two fumbles.

JC: Earned All-America and all-district honors as a strong safety at Blinn CC.

PREP: Cornerback and wide receiver at Eisenhower High School in Austin, Texas...also competed in basketball and track.

PERSONAL: Born 5-1-78...son of Bobby and Doris Patterson...his brother, Claude Mathis, plays football at Southwest Texas State...undecided on college major.
