Nick Stauffer enters his third year as the safeties coach and fifth overall with the Southeast football program.
Stauffer worked as the Redhawks Director of Football Operations before moving to his on-field coaching position in 2011.
A native of Mansfield, Texas, Stauffer remained in the area following a stellar playing career as a linebacker at Southeast.
Stauffer was a First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection who ranked fourth in the nation and second all-time in Southeast single-season history with 150 tackles in 2008.
In an upset victory over nationally-ranked Tennessee State on Oct. 25, 2008, Stauffer had a career-high 21 tackles and added his first career interception in an overtime victory.
Stauffer finished his Southeast career with a total of 208 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and one interception.
The Redhawks ranked among the top three teams in the OVC in interceptions during two of the last three years. Southeast tied for third with 13 picks in 2012 and led the OVC and ranked fourth in the nation with 20 interceptions in 2010. The Redhawks also returned a total of five interceptions for touchdowns since 2010.
Tylor Brock earned First-Team All-OVC honors and Second-Team All-American accolades after tying Southeast’s single-season record with six interceptions at free safety in 2010. Brock garnered First-Team All-OVC laurels again in 2012.
A native of Mansfield, Texas, Stauffer graduated with a bachelor’s degree in secondary physical education from Southeast in 2008.
Stauffer is married to Maria Dominguez, who is an athletic trainer at Southeast. They reside in Cape Girardeau.
