Brett Blackman is in his seventh year as Southeast Missouri’s Director of Football Operations.

Blackman oversees team budgets, travel plans for away games and supervises equipment staff, while providing support to academic programs and other football areas.

Prior to SEMO, Blackman worked as an administrator, teacher and head football coach at Charleston High School from 2010-18. He orchestrated a turnaround in the football program which saw the Bluejays become one of the top teams in the SEMO Conference and Class 2 District.

For his efforts, Blackman was named 2019 SEMO East Conference Coach of the Year and 2013 Southeast Missouri Area Football Coaches Association Class 2 Coach of the Year. He mentored 14 student-athletes that went on to play college football during his nine years as head coach. Blackman also enjoyed success coaching Charleston’s track & field team which produced several state champions and top five finishes.

Before Charleston High School, Blackman worked under Kent Gibbs at Sikeston and Fredericktown High School. At Sikeston, he oversaw all levels of the football program and started the seventh grade team. At Fredericktown, Blackman was offensive line coach. In addition, he taught in the East Prairie and Hayti School Districts.

Blackman graduated from nearby Jackson High School and was a member of the 1994 team which played for a State Championship.
