Southeast’s primary closer who went 4-2 with a 2.97 ERA and a team-high five saves in 27 relief appearances… Tied for fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in saves, ranked sixth in appearances,third in games finished (20) and tied for fifth in games in relief… Struck out 28 in 36.1 innings… Longest outing was 3.2 innings at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2/28) and at Eastern Kentucky (3/12)… Picked up his first win of the season against the Colonels after striking out three in 3.2 scoreless innings… Made two appearances at the OVC Tournament (5/28, 5/29, vs. Jacksonville State)… Appeared in relief at the NCAA Regional against Mississippi State (6/3), pitching one-third of an inning.

As a sophomore at Mineral Area College, Murphy started 11 games and pitched a team-high 68.0 innings… Went the distance in six games… Finished with a 4.24 ERA with 85 strikeouts… Walked only 24 hitters… Tallied an 11.25 strikeouts per game average… Started 13 games as a freshman and finsihed with a 3.95 ERA… Pitched 82 innings his rookie season and fanned 68 hitters, only allowing 11 walks… Finished with a 9-4 record.
