Michael Patke, a state licensed and nationally certified athletic trainer, is responsible for the prevention and care of injuries for the Redhawks baseball program and has been a member of the Southeast Missouri Athletics department since 2019.Â
A native of College Station, Texas, Patke graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 2007. He then attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Motor Behavior in 2011 with minors in both Coaching and in Psychology. He then earned a Master’s degree in Motor Neuroscience in 2012. In 2015, Patke attended the Master’s of Science in Athletic Training program at Texas A&M. During his time as a student athletic trainer, Patke worked with the Fighting Texas Aggie baseball team, the women’s soccer team, and the men’s and women’s track and field and cross- country teams. In addition to his time at Texas A&M, Patke completed internships with the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League and with James Earl Rudder High School. Following his graduation from Texas A&M, Patke served as the assistant athletic trainer for A&M Consolidated High School from 2017-2019 under the leadership of Karl Kapchinski.Â
Most recently, Southeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine of Cape Girardeau hired Patke, where he immediately assumed responsibility for the prevention and care of injuries for the Cape Catfish baseball team in the Prospect League. Patke has attained further certifications in personalized blood flow restriction therapy, dry needling, myo-fascial release, fascial abrasion technique, and is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.Â
Patke is married to Dr. Loni Patke, who is a veterinarian at Cape Small Animal and Bootheel Animal Clinics. Patke enjoys spending time in the outdoors with Loni and their 4 dogs.
