Michael Cavazos

Michael Cavazos enters his second  year as Volunteer Assistant Coach at Southeast Missouri.

Cavazos works with the hitters and outfielders and serves as the Redhawks Camp Director.

At the time play was suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19, SEMO led the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average (.314), hits (188), triples (9) and stolen bases (36), while ranking second in slugging percentage (.503), on-base percentage (.420), runs scored (129), RBI (121) and home runs (21).

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Cavazos served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II member Erskine College. While at Erskine, he worked as the defensive coordinator and coached the outfielders and hitters. Under Cavazos’ direction, the Flying Fleet saw an immediate increase in runs, doubles, triples, home runs, total bases, slugging percentage and stolen bases. Cavazos also mentored four All-Conference players and one All-Region honoree in his only season at Erskine. 

Cavazos coached with the Lights Out Baseball in San Antonio, an Academy that developed 114 college and 13 professional players.

As a player, Cavazos was a four-year starter at Colorado Christian University from 2007-2010. He finished as the school’s career and single-season leader in five statistical categories and earned All-America honors. 

Cavazos received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a double minor in Finance and Biblical Studies from Colorado Christian  University in 2010. He played one year of professional baseball after graduation.
