Marques Binion

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Marques Binion is in his first season as an assistant women's basketball coach at Southeast Missouri State University. He joined head coach John Ishee's staff after serving as a manager for the Redhawks men's basketball team during the 2006-07 season, where he was in charge of video coordination and helping with the team's day-to-day operations.

"Marques will be a great addition to our program for a lot of reasons. First and foremost, he's a quality person of the highest character. He's from the Southeast Missouri area, graduated from Southeast and is familiar with the university's athletic programs," Ishee said. "He's going to wear many hats in order to help us continue our success within the program."

Binion, originally from Lilbourn, Mo., graduated from Southeast in 2004. In addition to working with the men's basketball program in 2006-07, he also served as a volunteer manager to the women's team during its run to a second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Prior to returning to Southeast, Binion served as the head boy's basketball coach at Shawnee High School in Wolf Lake, Ill., for the 2004-05 season. He guided the Redskins to an 8-14 record and an appearance at the 2005 IHSA Class A Regional at Herrin (Ill.) High School.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to work with such high caliber coaches," Binion said. "Being a part of the Southeast women's basketball program gives me a chance to learn and grow as a coach with this staff."

Binion also served as an assistant coach for five years with the SEMO Bombers, an AAU team, whom he helped guide to a seventh-place finish at the 2002 AAU U-16 National Tournament in New Orleans, La.
