Curt Dixon

Curt Dixon enters his second year as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri.

Dixon is the Redhawks recruiting coordinator. He joined the coaching staff on Aug. 11, 2016.

In his first season at Southeast, Dixon served as the team’s pitching coach. The Redhawks allowed the fewest walks in the Ohio Valley Conference in 2017. Southeast also had two All-OVC pitchers in Clay Chandler and Justin Murphy under Dixon’s watch.

Dixon most recently served as the pitching coach at Eastern Oklahoma State in Wilberton, Oklahoma. There, Dixon helped lead the Mountaineers to two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 2 Championships (2012, 2016). Four of his pitchers were selected in the Major League Baseball Draft while 45 players went on to four-year universities including former Redhawk Jacob Lawrence. He has also worked with current Redhawk catcher Kylar Robertson. Dixon also coached two All-Americans and 12 Academic All-Americans. Dixon began at Eastern Oklahoma in 2011.

During the summer months, Dixon has spent the last five seasons at the helm of the Brazos Valley Bombers out of the Texas Collegiate League. He has amassed an impressive record of 224-68 with the Bombers including five-consecutive TCL regular-season championships (2012-16). The Bombers led the league in ERA and opponent batting average each of the five championship seasons.

He was named the Texas Collegiate League Coach of the Year in each of the championship seasons from 2012-15. In 2013, Dixon coached the Bombers to a Perfect Game Summer Collegiate National Championship. 25 of his players went on to be selected in the MLB Draft.

Prior to Eastern Oklahoma and Brazos Valley, Dixon spent a season as the pitching coach at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. In 2011, the Crusaders broke school records in ERA and conference victories.

Dixon began his coaching career at his alma mater, University of the Ozarks. He assisted in recruiting, practice routine, and was the JV head coach from 2008 to 2010.

As a student-athlete, Dixon played four seasons for the Eagles. Dixon is the career leader in wins (24), strikeouts (205), and innings pitched (256.2). In 2008, his senior season, he was All-Region Team and All-American Southwest Conference Team selections after going 9-1 on the mound.

Professionally, he played three seasons in independent baseball. He began with the Southern Illinois Miners (Frontier League) before finishing the 2008 season with the McKinney Blue Thunder (Continental League). In 2009, he earned a 7-4 record in 13 starts with the Big Bend Cowboys en route to being named a Continental League All-Star. He played a final season professionally in 2010 with the Kalamazoo Kings (Frontier League).

He received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of the Ozarks in 2008. He graduated Cum Laude and was an academic all-conference selection three times. He will finish his Master’s in Sports Administration/Sports Coaching from the United States Sports Academy this Fall.

Curt and his wife Whitney have one daughter, Addison.
