Three Redhawks Win Events Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Southeast Missouri track and field teams put on a  strong showing at the Memphis Tiger Invite, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and an event victory.

Leading the way for the Redhawks was Kale Clements, who captured the women's 800-meter title in 2:18.75, while Matt Pluff earned a victory in the men's high jump after clearing 7-0.25. At the Jim Green Invite, Jon'Davd White added another event win for SEMO with a first-place finish in the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.16.

The Redhawks collected several second- and third-place finishes throughout the weekend. Daphne Bishop recorded a personal-best time of 17:55.92 to finish second in the women's 5K, while Brooklyn Bender followed in third at 18:06.76. Garrett Dumke also earned a third-place finish in the men's 5K with a time of 14:56.98. In the women's 1500 meters, Mattea Pearsall placed second in 4:47.68 and Erika Mellor took third in 4:51.13. Ian Schwierjohn added a third-place finish in the men's 1500 meters in 4:00.75, while Myles Thornburg finished third in the men's 800 meters at 2:02.77. In the field events, John Hartmann placed second in the men's high jump with a clearance of 6-7.5, Liberty Blackburn finished second in the women's high jump at 5-7.25, and Molly Grohmann took third at 5-6.25. Andreese Ortiz added a third-place finish in the women's discus with a throw of 153-2, while Zavier Winton placed third in the men's discus at 166-0. Cole Bruenderman rounded out the podium finishes with a second-place mark of 48-3 in the men's triple jump.

SEMO athletes also produced numerous top-five performances. Nick Cimmarusti finished fourth in the men's 5K with a time of 15:46.09, while Kayla Vogelsang took fourth in the women's 5K in 18:20.96. Layla Fliege added a fourth-place finish in the women's 1500 meters in 4:53.56, and Myles Thornburg placed fourth in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 4:04.87. Ian Schwierjohn also finished fifth in the men's 800 meters in 2:07.75. In the throws, Andreese Ortiz placed fourth in the women's shot put with a throw of 47-2.5, while Mark Goldman and Quinton Maxwell finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the men's shot put with marks of 50-11.75 and 50-11.5. Alyssa Repke earned a fifth-place finish in the women's discus at 145-1, while Mark Goldman added a fifth-place result in the men's discus with a throw of 149-9.

Other SEMO finishers included Sam Rhinehart, who placed sixth in the men's 5K in 16:36.52, and Claire Horstmann, who finished seventh in the women's 5K with a time of 18:52.91. Micah Grawer clocked 1:56.51 in the men's 800 meters, while Zach Thoman finished sixth in 2:08.48. Alyssa Repke placed eighth in the women's shot put at 39-9.25, Emerson Gross took 10th in the event with a mark of 34-0.75, and Anna Thomason finished 11th at 33-4.5. Emerson Gross also placed sixth in the women's discus with a throw of 107-9. In the men's throws, Quinton Maxwell finished sixth in the discus at 139-9, Luis Schadlich placed eighth with a throw of 120-0, Kannon Harlow recorded a mark of 44-0.75 in the shot put, and Schadlich added a shot put mark of 37-4.5.

At the Jim Green Invite, Jasmine McClelland led SEMO in the women's 100 meters with a time of 12.18, while Alaina Lester ran 12.22 and Makayla Jones finished in 12.26.

The Redhawks will wrap up the regular season Friday at the Billy Hayes Invite in Bloomington, Indiana.
